I purchased this set of 2 metal loaf pans a couple of months ago from Amazon. The price was good ($9.99 for the set of two pans). And the description stated they were non-stick, so, how could I pass them by?
I have used these pans to bake bread, make polenta for molding and frying, and yes, I even used them for greasy, stick-on meatloaf. What can I tell you about these pans?
Well, the pans acted far superior than non-coated aluminum pans. Bread simply lifted out, without using an implement to lift it out. I just let the bread rest for 10-minutes after baking, tilted the pan, and the bread slid directly onto my cooling racks! For the polenta, after cooking my cornmeal down, pouring it into the pans, and then chilling it overnight, I found the chilled polenta simply jiggled out of the pan and onto my dough board for slicing (I inverted the pan onto the board). The unmolding was really that easy! (My fried polenta was great for breakfast!) The meatloaf? I made some that simply came right out of the pan. DH (dear hubby) made a meatloaf that had to have a spatula ran around the edges of it, as he had left the food in the oven too long and the edges had burnt to the pan. However, upon letting it rest for a few minutes after removing from the oven, then running a silicone spatula around the edges of the meatloaf, it separated beautifully from the pan! It was plated and served and no one knew the wiser of it!
The pans have a good heft to them. They have a wide enough grasping area that you can use potholders without fear of getting an edge of the potholder into the dish itself! Great to know when you may have dinner guests.
I'm planning to cook a large trout in them next. I think I can fit one into each pan. (We moved last fall, and so much of my kitchen ware is still in storage!) I'll let you know after I attempt this as to whether they can be done.
